Lane Departure Warning (LDW)

Warns you if you drift out of lane
Official manufacturer dataApplies to: Petrol and Super Hybrid (SHS-P)Source: Petrol handbook p173-175 · Super Hybrid handbook p158-160

LDW uses the front multi-function camera (behind the windscreen) to read the lane lines. If a wheel rolls over a lane line and the car starts to leave its lane, it warns you.

When it works

  • At 40 mph (65 km/h) or more, with a lane line recognised, LDW goes into standby.
  • At 40 mph (65 km/h) or more, if the car crosses a lane line, LDW warns you.
  • If your speed drops from 40 mph (65 km/h) to 37 mph (60 km/h), LDW goes into its limited (inactive) state.

The manual gives the working range as above 40 mph (65 km/h) up to 102 mph (165 km/h).Petrol only

Turning it on or off

You can turn LDW on or off, and adjust its warning sensitivity, in the Driver Assistance settings on the central touchscreen. The car remembers your choice the next time you drive.

Cluster indicator

Grey: LDW is on but not yet ready (pre-active) or restricted

Green steady: LDW is active. Green flashing: LDW is warning you

Yellow: LDW fault - see an authorised Jaecoo service centre

What the camera can see

  • White solid and dotted lines, yellow solid and dotted lines, and double solid lines.
  • It only works normally on roads with two clear lane lines. If it can only see one line, warnings are less reliable.

When it may not work properly

  • ESP is switched off.
  • Petrol only
  • When you change lanes or turn at high speed.
  • When you press hard on the accelerator or brake pedal.
  • When the hazard warning lights are on, or the indicator on the side you are drifting towards is on.
  • On roads with tight curves, sharp turns or narrow lanes.
  • When lane lines are too thin, broken or faded, or there is no line on the side you are drifting towards.
  • In cold or bad weather - rain, snow, fog or strong contrasting light can affect the camera.
  • On concrete roads, in roadworks, or on flooded or muddy roads.
  • If the camera is disturbed or blocked. Temporary roadworks markings may cause false warnings.
  • If non-approved suspension parts have been fitted.

Caution:Keep the front multi-function camera area of the windscreen clear of bird droppings, insects and ice.
