The steering is assisted by an electric motor rather than an engine-driven hydraulic pump.
Steering angle reset
After the 12 V battery has been disconnected and reconnected, the yellow steering-angle indicator flashes. Turn the steering wheel fully left and fully right to reset it – the indicator then goes out.
Steering angle not initialised (yellow, flashing)
EPS fault (red)
If the red EPS indicator comes on, there's a fault in the power steering.
Note:Steering weight can be linked to the driving mode. If you unlink it, you can set steering to COMFORT or SPORT separately in the central screen settings.
Caution:Turning the wheel a lot over long periods can damage the EPS mechanism. Don't turn the wheel quickly and repeatedly while stationary – the system can overheat and the steering becomes heavy. If that happens, stop turning the wheel and switch the car to OFF/ACC until it cools.
Warning:If EPS stops working you can still steer, but it will be much heavier. Drive with care and have it checked by an authorised Jaecoo service centre as soon as possible.
