Seats, head restraints, seat belts and airbags all help protect you – but only if you use them correctly.
- Sit well back in the seat with the backrest slightly reclined – about 25° from upright is ideal.
- Do not sit too close to the dashboard. Hold the wheel with your arms slightly bent.
- Your legs should be slightly bent when the pedals are fully pressed.
- Set the head restraint so its top is level with the top of your head.
- The shoulder belt should cross the middle of your shoulder and lie close to your chest, away from your neck. The lap belt should sit low across your hips, not your stomach.
Warning:Do not recline the backrest more than you need to. Seat belts protect best in a front or rear collision when you sit slightly reclined and well back in the seat.
